What is MOST important to monitor if you suspect a friend or roommate has alcohol poisoning?
Heart rate
Pupil dilation
Muscle tone
Breathing
If you suspect they have alcohol poisoning, you don't monitor … you take them to the ER, stat. In the meantime, try to get them to vomit so they empty their stomach of any residual alcohol, but by all means, get them to the ER. Usually someone with alcohol poisoning wants to lay down and "sleep it off", and they can end up drifting into a coma.
We just discussed this in a medical class I took this summer.

Shallow breathing, or barely breathing, throwing up, confusion, eyes rolling when looking at you. If you are concerned, call someone to help.
