Can alcohol poisoning take place the next day?
Like, if I drank too much last night could the effects of alcohol poisoning just be effecting me now? Or is this just a really bad hangover?
There is no 'alcohol poisoning' only 'alcohol intoxication'..lol. Much like a hang-over but worse. I got a patient before admitted to the ICU because of this. She was intubated and only feeds through NGT. She was released from the hospital after a month. I suggest to take it easy on the alcohol, don't try to drink another glass when your body can't take it anymore. I'm a healthcare pro, not M.D. though.
Oops, didn't quite answer your question. Alcohol intoxication takes effect immediately. It seems like a simple hang-over because the effects are much like the same. Alcohol intoxication can lead to lung problems (difficulty in breathing). Why? Because alcohol is water-soluble. It can go through the lungs if you take too much of it.
